There is a difference, the normal brain and brain after trauma.
The Body keeps the Score, by Van
Der Kolk, M.D. has a chapter on this very differential.
Orientation is the reason, it is damaged. What and how to pay attention....is the function, for that which is in stress, to be aware, the surety of the tramatic brain, survival even if not so well.
The task then, like the Chinese did during or after the Revolution was to institute tai chi for its people to heal on a collective basis, the grief or such said, the trauma of war. All involved there was no isolation, another issue, not really addressed in a capitalistic society.
After reading more on Tolstoy and others, the Russian response, I noted more on our society. We rarely celebrate poets, writers and a focus more the sound of art as the civilization basis. I noticed more on our obesity and feeding commercially, as a metaphor of the body. What must our hearts be, the stomach versus the soul.
The commercialization and emphasis, we aren't to ourselves.
